Earlier this month, Pope Francis announced his August 2018 prayer intention: “The Treasure of the Family.” He said, “Together, let us ask Jesus that any far-reaching decisions of economists and politicians may protect the family as one of the treasures of humanity.”

In the video accompanying the announcement, the Pope said that families today are facing increasing pressure from the faster rhythm of life and stress at work, but institutions are not considering them in their plans. Protecting the treasure of the family requires that economists and politicians develop good family policy, he said.
